This year's Out 100 not only honors the gay men and women who moved culture -- our own and at large -- during the last 12 months, it's also tribute to the Golden Age of Hollywood. Many of our honorees were made over and staged to reenact some of our favorite moments from classic films, while other shots were simply influenced by the actors and actresses who wielded their grace, charm, and talents on the big screen.
As we mentioned yesterday, MSNBC correspondent Rachel Maddow's portrait was inspired by the legendary Katharine Hepburn. Both women's careers are impressive -- after being on air for a little over a month, Maddow's news program doubled the audience for MSNBC's 9 p.m. hour and Hepburn was named by the American Film Institute as the greatest female star in the history of American cinema -- but all accolades aside, it was Hepburn's spunk (as seen below in these clips from The Philadelphia Story) and straightforward, unconventional style that we most connected with outspoken Maddow.
