Exclusive: Tim Gunn also concerned about typos

Tim Gunn is standing RIGHT HERE. Like, at my elbow. He already gave me a super-sweet interview for Out.com, which you'll be able to see next week. But right now I'm going to let him take the wheel.

Annie Lennox -- who I feel obligated to point out is our Editor in Chief Aaron Hicklin's hero, he told me (possibly in confidence) -- showed up to accept Humanitarian of the Year.

Gina Gershon introduced her -- calling out the few ladies in the audience who were looking as swank as the boys -- and then Annie got super serious, and sounded super Scottish. She had a commanding presence and actually managed the impossible -- made a room full of drunken homosexuals shut the hell up.

Or at least get a little quieter and give each other guilty looks when they kept gossiping as she showed "Dark Road," a video about her work to fight AIDS in Africa. But in the end it was sweet!

Chaka Khan is rocking the house!

After being introduced by Kelly Rowland -- who demanded the crowd commit to seeing Ms. Khan when she debuts in The Color Purple on Broadway in January -- the diva launched right into "Through the Fire."

Everyone in VIP is dancing along and the main floor is packed with boys holding their phones in the air so they can be sure all their friends know just how jealous they should be!

Juliano, who's standing behind me and is amazed by the technical marvel of liveblogging, just tapped my shoulder and announced that if he was reading this at home he would, in fact, wish he was right here. Lucky bastard.

Her ballad follow-up, though, is giving everyone a chance to rest their cell-waving arms. A necessary break or Debbie Downer?

Don't worry, I knew what was coming next: "I'm Every Woman," of course, a gay anthem that will never go out of style. Apparently not even being at a gala event will stop the gays from waving their hands in the air and singing along to every word. No one is too cool for Chaka.

Mya

One of the best parts of the Out 100 is all the free booze. People can't get enough of it. But when Mya took the stage  the place fell silent, she sang Lady Marmalde and it was a veritable noise riot.

Marc Jacobs just presented the Stylemaker of the Year Award to Thom Browne... and they didn't have a walk off.

I'm standing in the VIP section of out 100 at Cipriani Wall Street New York, NY... I feel like an ostrich. Meaning.. I am wearing a gorgeous ostrich feather coat over my gorgeous blue dress by the infamous Malan Breton! I have just run into a dear friend of mine which makes any event that much better! I am watching Tim Gunn and Tori spelling present some awards - awards that I was not even aware of... but here he is - MARC JACOBS. I live in LA now right next to Melrose Place next to the Marc Jacobs store there and I watch the fashion show video in his store window as I drive to the grocery store or whatever! Hah. Tim Gunn is always so much fun and such a joy to be around. He is so fatherly to all who have participated on Project Runway - models and designers alike! Eh- Tori Spelling...? She is fierce for just having a baby but um.. those lips!! She has had a little work done, but I'm not hating!! Who knows what I will need later on! I feel like I am missing out on all the fun.. thanks for reading!

Oh, what a night!

Ah, The Lady Bunny! How wonderful it is to see The Lady Bunny spinning and seeing the crowd below. How very New York. How very fun. I don't get to do "this" that much now that I'm in Washington. Washington could use this kind of fun, this kind of intensity, this kind of glamour. But, who knows, that could all change a year from now.

It's that time of year again...

The new Out 100 will celebrate the men and women who made 2007 a year to remember -- the rabblerousers, the stylemakers, the few and proud who manage to be both stylish and cause a little ruckus (our favorites).

We'll start naming names for the new honorees later this week, but in the meantime we'll begin the important tradition of re-honoring the alumni of Out 100s past.

Plus we'll be launching the first-ever online BreakOut Awards -- four competitive categories voted on by you and only you.
